I now sit in front of my computer, typing these words while wearing my “oh-so-coveted t-shirt” - just ask my oh-so-envious roommate. I was able to make it from start to finish in just over an hour.

It’s two weeks until the Fourth of July. That means I’ve got fourteen days until I make my way through Buckhead and Midtown along with 55,000 of my fellow Atlantans (and a few very fast Kenyans) during the Peachtree Road Race. I’m stuck in Time Group Nine - the last to leave the starting line - so I’ve got approximately 75 minutes to run the 10 kilometers (~6.2 miles) from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park and pick up my oh-so-coveted t-shirt.
Last Friday after work, I accompanied a few of my coworkers to the Five Paces Inn - a bar just down the street lovingly referred to as the “Twelve-Step” - and much to my surprise, the place was packed with Santas! The Buckhead bar was hosting members of Atlanta’s Old White rugby team on their annual Santa Pub Crawl. Each year during this festive season the team gets decked out in Santa suits - for fun and for charity. After the somewhat unusual task of collecting toys for needy children and chanting in unison requests for free beer, the guys moved on single-file to another bar and all sorts undocumented merriment.
With merely one week left before the annual Kudzu Cup between Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, what can I say but, “How ‘bout them Dawgs?” But, at least somebody in Athens has taken the time to stop and smell the roses.
